"I've been using my plasma cleaner for two or three years, and it just doesn't work as well as it used to." This is a genuine complaint we hear from many long-term users. But in most cases, the issue isn't with the equipment design – it's with inadequate routine maintenance.
Here are four of the most commonly overlooked areas:
1. Vacuum pump oil and filters (for vacuum plasma systems). Pump oil that is not changed regularly can emulsify and become contaminated, leading to degraded vacuum levels that directly reduce plasma density and treatment uniformity. We recommend inspecting the oil every 3 to 6 months.

2. Contaminant buildup in the chamber and on electrodes. Over time, processing organic materials leads to gradual accumulation of polymer films on the chamber walls and electrodes. These films distort the electric field distribution and compromise plasma stability. Periodic empty-chamber oxygen plasma cleaning – commonly known as a "burnoff" cycle – resolves most of these issues.

3. Aging gas lines and O ring seals. Even microscopic leaks can introduce air into the chamber, altering the process atmosphere. Orings should be replaced annually, and gas lines should be regularly checked with a leak detector.
4. RF matching network and power supply drift. After extended use, highfrequency power supplies may exhibit output drift, requiring professional calibration. Inexpensive units without automatching capability are more susceptible to such drift.
